Steve Komphela is now part of the Mamelodi Sundowns' technical team. The 53-year-old signed a deal with Masandawana to act as a senior coach.

According to the Sundowns, Komphela will report to the joint head coaches, Rulani Mokwena and Manqoba Mngqithi.

A statement by the Brazilians read:

"Masandawana let's welcome @komphelasteve to the home of the Champions! He will join the Brazilians' technical team as a first team senior coach reporting to the joint head coaches."

The news left soccer fans divided - with some applauding the Sundowns for signing a coach with so much experience while others wanted to know what the difference is between the senior and head coaches.

Twitter user, @Shimaninkillale, commented:

"Admin can you break down for us what is the difference between the first team senior coach and head coach."

Komphela's appointment follows Pitso Mosimane resigning as the head coach of the Sundowns. Briefly.co.za previously reported Mosimane dumped the Brazilians to join Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

The outspoken coach started his partnership with Ahly on a winning note. He led the team to victory during their first match with him as their coach. Al Ahly saw themselves achieving a 1-0 victory over the opposing team, Al Mokawloon, in the Egyptian Premier League.

Mosimane will reportedly earn a massive salary at Ahly, with reports suggesting an annual paycheck of R54 million.

In other news, Itumeleng 'Itu' Khune shared an adorable throwback picture of himself as a baby this past weekend. The soccer legend has been quite active on social media even though he attempted to take a break from the world selfies and oversharing just a month ago.

The 33-year-old posted his adorable baby picture to both Twitter and Instagram with the exact same caption. Khune basically said in the caption that his daughter, Amogelang, is a carbon copy of him.

His caption read:

"Our daughter is a copy and paste version of me when I was young, wait until you see her. IIK32 who would have thought?"
