  • Kepa Arrizabalaga committed an unforced error in Real Madrid's UCL clash with Napoli
  • Madrid managed to secure a 2-1 win against the Italian champions despite his mistake
  • Kepa managed to redeem his reputation by making some decent saves after his blunder

Chelsea fans ridiculed Kepa Arrizabalaga after the goalkeeper's costly error for Real Madrid during their UEFA Champions League match against Napoli.

The Spaniard became a target for online mockery due to his fundamental mistake, which resulted in Los Blancos conceding a goal in the high-profile Group C showdown at the Diego Maradona Stadium.

Although the 29-year-old goalkeeper has not reached the level of Thibaut Courtois, who suffered a cruciate ligament injury, he has performed reasonably well.

However, Kepa's occasional errors, which became a familiar sight during his time at Chelsea, resurfaced on social media once more.

Kepa's 'schoolboy' mistake

The Spanish goalkeeper found himself out of position after losing an aerial duel with a Napoli attacker.

Regrettably, the rebound landed at the feet of Leo Ostigard, who capitalised on the opportunity with an unstoppable shot, per 90Min.

How fans reacted to Kepa's error

@iamyourspec wrote:

"You can take Kepa from Chelsea but can’t take the mistakes in him."

Another staunch Chelsea fan, @_owurakuampofo, added:

"Kepa reminding me of why I didn’t regret seeing him leave. He’s so weak aerially."

@sergio_de_ennin quizzed:

"What were you thinking, Kepa?"

@nyannthierry made a mockery of the Chelsea loanee's missed punch:

"Kepa Arrizabalaga missing a punch from a corner kick is something I got so used to at Chelsea. LOOL."

@centro241, who appeared to be a Real Madrid fan, fumed:

"Kepa!!! Of course, keeps on costing us. Courtois definitely punching this out."

Real Madrid edge Napoli in cagey CL tie

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Real Madrid secured a 3-2 victory against Napoli on Tuesday, propelling the Spanish giants to the top of Champions League Group C.

Alex Meret had no chance to stop Federico Valverde's forceful shot, which deflected off the bar and bounced into the net off his outstretched arm 12 minutes from the end.

This preserved Madrid's flawless record in the group stage and gave them a three-point lead over the Serie A champions and Braga, who triumphed over Union Berlin.
