  • Cape Town City secured a 1-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium in the DStv Premiership
  • Khanyisa Mayo grabbed a goal in the second half after a pinpoint assist from Darwin Gonzalez
  • Chiefs have now failed to beat Cape Town City in the last six fixtures between the two teams

Cape Town City are proving to be Kaizer Chiefs’ jinx team.

Eric Tinkler’s men have made a habit of beating the Amakhosi of late and continued that trend at the FNB Stadium.

Tinkler’s side are now unbeaten in the last six games against the Amakhosi and have won the previous four fixtures at Chiefs’ home.

City have only won five games against Gauteng teams in their last 29 games against teams from the province, but four of those wins have come against The Glamour Boys.

As noted by FAR Post, City earned a 1-0 win over the Soweto side thanks to a goal by Khanyiso Mayo. The in-form striker netted in the second half of the game after he headed home from a Darwin Gonzalez cross.

City move to fifth

The result saw the Mother City side jump up to fifth on the table, level on points with Moroka Swallows and SuperSport United above them.

The Amakhosi find themselves in seventh place on 11 points, a full 13 points behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

Sundowns have played a game less.

Chiefs’ home record snapped

The Glamour Boys also witnessed one of their records at home fall as a result of the loss. Chiefs have now lost one of their first five home games for the first time since 2016.

Cape Town City troll Chiefs over chips

Cape Town City's admin team surely know how to celebrate a win while making fun of their opponents, Sports Brief reported.

The Mother City side beat Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 at the FNB Stadium, adding to their impressive record against The Glamour Boys in recent seasons, but that wasn't the best part.

City’s social media team took it a step further when they posted a photo online of a special packet of chips after the win, calling it crisps that have three points.
