FootballRonaldo: NBA Star Says He Would Be a Footballer Like Al-Nassr Star if He Wasn’t Playing Basketball
- Pascal Siakam has claimed he would be a Cristiano Ronaldo in football if not for the NBA
- The Toronto Raptors star said he would be scoring in Europe if he wasn't playing basketball
- Siakam's future with the Raptors is uncertain as he enters the final year of his contract
Toronto Raptors All-Star, Pascal Siakam claims he would be scoring goals if he weren't in the NBA. The 29-year-old said he would be a Cristiano Ronaldo in Europe.
Siakam is Raptors' best player, and his 6'8" frame would make him a terrifying striker for any defence in Europe.
Coming from Cameroon, it is understandable that Siakam would say he would be a footballer. The West African country has produced some of the continent's greatest footballers, from Samuel Eto'o to Roger Milla.
Recently, he was asked what position would he play in football and he replied he's a striker since he likes scoring goals.
"I'd definitely be a striker. I like scoring goals that's easy. Cristiano Ronaldo, I'm basically him in my head," Siakam said via Overtime.
He added that he would be too good for the MLS.
"If I wasn't in the NBA, I'd be playing soccer. In my head, I'm a soccer player. I'm nice, though. I grew up playing my whole life, basically...Probably would not be in the MLS, I'd be in Europe somewhere because I am really good."
Reaching the level of Ronaldo is questionable. Few players have had the longevity and ruthlessness the Portuguese star has had in his illustrious career.
Will Siakam sign a new deal at Raptors?
The Cameroon star is entering the final year of his deal this season and is yet to sign a new contract. The team is not engaged in contract talks with the franchise star, with team president, Masai Ujiri saying he is waiting to see how they perform.

FootballSiakam's name was mentioned in trade rumours last season, and without talks, he remains a trade candidate. He averaged 24.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 5.8 assists in 71 games for the Raptors last season, per Bleacher Report.
The team has been poor in the last few seasons, which resulted in the dismissal of championship-winning coach Nick Nurse.
Siakam's highest-scoring games
Sports Brief earlier analyzed Raptors star, Siakam's highest-scoring games as he turned 29 years old.
The Cameroonian delivered a career-high 52 points December 21, 2022, in a won win over the Knicks.
Siakam has five 40-point games in his career and will be looking to add to that as he enters his prime.
