Paris Saint-Germain could be without Kylian Mbappe for their crunch UEFA Champions League tie against English Premier League side Newcastle United on Tuesday, October 3.
The 24-year-old forward has travelled with the rest of the PSG squad for the crucial game but may not feature for the Parisians after picking up a knock in his previous game.
According to PSG Talk, Mbappe is not yet 100 percent physically after he picked up an injury against Clermont despite playing 90 minutes against the Ligue 1 side last weekend.
PSG will hope the France forward is cleared fit by the doctors to feature against the Magpies as they aim to continue their winning run in the competition after an opening-day win against Borussia Dortmund.
The Parisians kicked off their Champions League campaign this season with a 2-0 victory against BVB, but Luis Enrique’s side will face a daunting task against Newcastle in their first UCL home game since 2002.
PSG paying the price for summer standoff
Meanwhile, Mbappe’s latest injury setback is a setback for Paris Saint-Germain, as the French club are paying the price for their pre-season standoff with the superstar striker, GOAL reports.
The 24-year-old forward has suffered a string of knocks so far this season, as people close to the forward have reportedly revealed that he is yet to gain full fitness as he missed the club's pre-season tour in the summer.
Mbappe was pulled out of the team's pre-season tour squad to Japan in the summer after he refused to extend his contract beyond the 2023/24 season, according to Luis Enrique.
