Lionel Messi has continued to capture the hearts of Americans, only that this time, he did so without kicking a ball.

The Argentina stalwart has had Major League Soccer in a chokehold ever since he moved to Inter Miami on a free transfer at the end of July.

He took to the league like a duck to water, putting in mesmerising performances as he turned the worst team in the division to the best in a couple of weeks when they won the League's Cup.

Messi's impact in MLS

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner has also managed to rope in A-list celebrities of America, with the likes of Lebron James, Serena Williams, Brad Pitt and Selena Gomez, among others gracing his games.

And as is often the case when you see Messi play, many people tend to get starstruck. Doesn't matter if you are a star in your own field as well.

Selena Gomez was in person at the BMO stadium in Los Angeles on September 4 when Inter Miami played Los Angeles FC to see what the fuss was all about the diminutive Argentine. The pop star's jaw-dropping reactions to another exquisite performance by Messi were captured in real-time, as reported by Sports Brief.

What did Messi do for Selena Gomez

Messi has since followed it up by donating to Gomez's charity - a gesture that is said to have left the Love You Like A Love Song hitmaker 'captivated' as reported by Marca.

Messi's subtle act of donating a signed jersey will see Gomez's foundation, which addresses mental health among young people, get at least 6,000 US Dollars.

The said amount was the starting price and is expected to go higher by the end of the auction at the end of this month.

The 36-year-old has missed Inter Miami's last three games through injury and it remains to be seen whether he will be available for their next game against Chicago Fire.

Messi’s six moments in Qatar

Sports Brief previously reported Messi’s six unforgettable World Cup moments as revealed by the former Barcelona player in celebration of the six-month anniversary of the triumph.

The 36-year-old recapped some of Qatar's best moments, including his incredible assist for Nahuel Molina against the Netherlands and his opening goal against Mexico.
