Lauren James picked up where she left off last season, and fans can't stop being in awe of her skills and sharing the same joke about her week in and week out.

Chelsea began the defence of their Barclays Women's Super League title with a 2-1 win over London neighbours Tottenham on a bright night at Stamford Bridge.

American forward, Mia Fishel scored on her debut with a powerful header in the first half, while James added the second shortly after the interval. Niamh Charles assisted both goals.

Head coach Emma Hayes expressed her delight to get three points to Chelsea TV but questioned their lack of defensive solidity, which nearly allowed Spurs into the game late on.

Fans react to Lauren James' goal

James scored her first WSL goal of the season in the 51st minute after brilliantly guiding a Charles' cross into the net in trademark fashion, leaving fans gushing.

''Men's team need her.''

@VictorNganga7 tweeted:

''She and Reece make it look so easy''

Her brother, Reece James, had claimed she is technically better than some Premier League players, an assertion supported by former Blues Michy Batshuayi, who said she's a better finisher than him, as reported by Mirror UK.

Reece James praises his sister

Sports Brief reported that Reece James lavished praise on his sister after her match-winning heroics in her first start for the Lionesses at a major tournament.

The 24-year-old shared a photo of the two during their childhood and captioned it "proud" to appreciate her performance.

Reece, tipped to be Chelsea's next captain, missed the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after suffering a severe knee injury last year.
