As noted by News24, Spurs were beaten 3-1 by Cape Town City in the Mother City derby, losing their seventh successive game.

Spurs took the lead in the third minute of the game, but goals from Darwin Gonzalez and Khanyiso Mayo gave City the lead.

A Siyanda Msani own goal then added more misery to Bartlett’s men as they eventually lost 3-1. Unfortunately for The Urban Warriors, the loss meant that they now set a new record in the Premier Soccer League.

Umtata Bush Bucks set the previous record of six games in the 1999/2000 season.

Bartlett takes responsibility for Spurs’ poor season

With The Urban Warriors continuing their winless streak, the pressure on coach Bartlett has increased.

As noted by FAR Post, Bartlett took full responsibility for the team’s poor form this season but promised that they were doing their best to turn things around.

“I’m trying my utmost best with my technical team and other coaches to change the fortunes around,” he said.

Spurs will next be in action when they take on SuperSport United on October 4. Matsatsantsa a Pitori are currently in fourth place, but could jump up to second with a win.

Cape Town City’s social media time team are showing no sympathy.

The brains behind the club’s TikTok account had a bit of fun this weekend at the expense of Cape Town Spurs, Sports Brief reported.

Spurs suffered their seventh successive defeat of the season, and City made sure they remembered it with a special James Bond video.
