Bayern Munich's incredible start to the 2023/24 Bundesliga season has been consistently blighted with injuries.
Thomas Tuchel's side who are unbeaten since the start of the season, were hit with a triple blow after central defenders Dayot Upamecano, South Korean Kim-min Jae, and Dutch sensation Matthijs De Ligt suffered injuries ahead of match round six clash against RB Leipzig.
The Bavarians' midweek DFB Pokal clash against Liga 3 side Preussen Münster saw them field a make-shift centre-back pairing of midfielder Leon Goretzka and full-back Noussair Mazraoui.
Despite the hasty recuperation of Upamecano and Kim min Jae, reports has emerged from media outlet Goal of the Bundesliga giant fancying a move for free agent Jerome Boateng.
Bayern set to sign Boateng
The media outlet reports Bayern are already in advance talks to bring the veteran defender back to the club.
Further reports from Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg state the 35-year-old Boateng is seen by the club's hierarchy as the ideal candidate to provide temporary cover for Thomas Tuchel's side.
The Bundesliga champions are already in advanced talks with the free agent who has already completed a few training sessions with the Bundesliga club.
Boateng won nine Bundesliga titles, five DFB-Pokals and two Champions League titles during his previous ten-year spell at the Allianz Arena.
The former Lyon defender also made 360 appearances for the German giants before leaving the club as a free agent in the summer of 2021.
