  • Jude Bellingham is loving life in La Liga
  • The 20-year-old has now scored six goals this season after netting against Girona
  • Bellingham has now equalled Ronaldo's record after his goal on Saturday

Jude Bellingham played another major role in Real Madrid's impressive 3-0 win over high-flying Girona on Saturday, away from home.

By scoring the third goal, the Englishman equalled one of Cristiano Ronaldo's incredible La Liga records.

Summer signing Joselu put Los Blancos ahead with his fourth La Liga goal of the season, beating Girona goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga. Joselu scored his goal from Bellingham's wonderful trivela pass. Aurelien Tchouameni doubled the lead midway through the first half with a superb header.

The star of the show, Bellingham, completed a fine afternoon for Real Madrid by volleying Joselu's chip late in the game. The game was, however, overshadowed by Nacho Fernandez's sending-off, 90min.

Madrid were facing a Girona side that was top of the table with 19 points. Madrid are now top of the pile with 21 games after eight games. Barcelona are second with 20 points, while Girona dropped to third.

Bellingham equals Ronaldo's record

By scoring against Girona, Bellingham has now scored 6 goals in his first seven games in La Liga, the same as Ronaldo, who did it in his debut season in 2009/2010, per Transfermarkt.

It is the best start to a season for a Real Madrid player in the 21st century.

The 20-year-old England international was benched in Madrid's midweek game against Las Palmas.

Despite being a midfielder, Bellingham is becoming a serious goal threat for the Spanish giants, who lost Karim Benzema in the summer.

Furthermore, Bellingham is two goals away from equaling his season-best in the league. In the 2022/23 season at Borussia Dortmund, he scored 8 goals in the Bundesliga and 14 in all competitions.

Bellingham becomes leading scorer

Sports Brief earlier reported on Bellingham becoming La Liga's leading scorer in the 2023/24 season.

The Englishman now has six La Liga goals after eight games. That record put him at the top of the goalscoring charts above last season's Golden Boot winner, Robert Lewandowski. He now has seven goals and two assists this season in all competitions.

Could we see Bellingham win his first Golden Boot this season?
