Aston Villa’s 6-1 win over Brighton had a minor subplot, as Ollie Watkins’ hat trick suddenly put him in the top scorers’ charts.
The English striker was in inspired from as the Villains maintained a strong start to the season with another resounding performance against a frightening Brighton to move to fifth on the log with 15 points, just three off the top.
Another notable result as far as top scorers are concerned was Arsenal’s 4-0 win over Bournemouth which saw Bukayo Saka find his fourth goal of the season.
Jarod Bowen is having a dream start to the season at West Ham, as he also found the net on Saturday as the Hammers beat Sheffield United 2-0.
To show just how prolific Bowen has been, it is kind to note that only Son Heung Min and Haaland have scored more goals than the attacker after seven matches.
Speaking of Haaland, the Norwegian had a rare moment of firing blanks as Manchester City lost 2-1 to an unpredictable Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Regardless, Haaland’s early-season form has seen him at the top in terms of the Golden Boot race, and he is well on course to earn a second stand out trophy in that department.
