- Jude Bellingham's dream start at Real Madrid continued on Saturday
- He scored and assisted as his team beat Girona 3-0 in La Liga
- The Englishman is now the top scorer in La Liga after eight games
Jude Bellingham produced another masterclass for Real Madrid against Girona on Saturday, September 30. The La Liga giants comfortably edged the high-flying side 3-0, with the Englishman playing a crucial role in two goals.
Bellingham climbed to the top of the goalscoring charts, passing Barcelona's Robert Lewandowski in the process.
The 20-year-old has made an incredible start to his Real Madrid career after his big-money move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer. He's become a key player for Carlo Ancelotti and is now a fan favourite.
The Englishman has scored in all but two of Real Madrid's seven games this season. The club lost an important goalscorer in Karim Benzema last season, and Bellingham is filling that gap so far.
Bellingham provided a sublime trivela assist for Joselu's opener in the 17th minute. He then volleyed home Real Madrid's third goal in the 71st minute to seal the victory.
Bellingham becomes top scorer
With that goal, Bellingham now has six La Liga goals after eight games. That record put him at the top of the goalscoring charts above last season's Golden Boot winner, Robert Lewandowski. he now has seven goals and two assists this season, per Transfermarkt.
After scoring five goals in his first four La Liga games, he matched Cristiano Ronaldo's record when he first joined the club in 2009.
Moreover, Bellingham is only one goal shy of matching his best-ever goal tally in a single league season, which he managed with Borussia Dortmund in 2022/23. Last season, he scored eight goals and produced seven assists, and he is way ahead of schedule this term at Real Madrid.

Bellingham trivela assist
Sports Brief earlier reported on Bellignham's sensational trivela pass, which was expertly finished by Joselu, giving Los Blancos the lead against the surprise team of the season, Girona.
His assist was reminiscent of Luka Modric's trivela assist against Chelsea in the 2021-22 Champions League.
