  • Manchester United have lost four of their opening seven matches of the new season
  • This is United's worst league defeat in as many games in 34 years
  • The Red Devils are scheduled to face Brentford in their next Premier League outing

Erik ten Hag has broken his silence after Manchester United set an unwanted Premier League record following their latest setback at the hands of Crystal Palace.

The Red Devils have endured a frustrating start to the new season, picking a paltry nine points from seven of their opening matches.

United secured a 3-0 thrilling win over Crystal Palace when they met in the third round of the Carabao Cup earlier last week and were looking to build on the momentum when the two teams met again on Saturday at Old Trafford.

However, Erik ten Hag's men were unable to replicate their performance from last week as they went on to record a dismal performance at home.

Sky Sports reports that Joachim Andersen's first-half goal was the only difference in the tie, with United failing to find the back of the net for the remainder of the encounter.

Ten Hag reacts to Man United defeat

This was United's fourth Premier League defeat of the season, having previously lost to Wolves, Brighton, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur.

According to The Mirror, this is the Red Devils' worst Premier League start after seven games in 34 years.

Speaking after the match, Erik ten Hag pulled no punches as he assessed his side's performance during the tie.

"Of course it is frustrating. We were also many times close. You have to be sharp and clinical. It's about decision making. We can't change this result anymore. You always learn from the game and learn to do better from the final part of the game," he said.
Meanwhile, the Old Trafford dwellers will be keen to bounce back to winning ways when they play Galatasaray in the Champions League during their next outing.

Sancho’s relationship with Ten Hag ‘beyond repair’

Sports Brief also reported on the latest on Jadon Sancho amid a growing feeling that there is no room for reconciliation with Ten Hag.

British newspaper inews now reports that insiders have revealed their relationship is ‘beyond repair’.
