Italian television personality, Marika Fruscio has pleaded for calm from Nigerians after she criticised Super Eagles star, Victor Osimhen amid his recent issues with Napoli.
The Nigerian international deleted every post related to the Italian side from his Instagram account this week after being mocked by the club on their official TikTok handle.
Fruscio did not agree with the actions of Osimhen and went on a rant about the former Lille striker. This elicited sharp reactions from Nigerians, who blasted her in the comments under her post on Instagram.
The TV personality, who has set her account to private, responded to the fans who 'attacked' her online:
"Dear beloved people of Nigeria, I am a showgirl who also works in a TV program related to football," she said.
"In my comment and post, I did in reference to the Nigerian football player Victor Osimhen, didn't want to be offensive but was my only point of view and had to be understood as a personal suggestion."
The Italian beauty also expressed her love of Africa and her thoughts on talent stemming from the continent.
"...I have always appreciated their talents and moreover the beautiful values in terms of friendship and positivity they have. Now days are so full of bad news so let's spread love and peace. Hugs to you all," she concluded.
Osimhen deletes Napoli content from Instagram
Sports Brief previously reported on Osimhen deleting all Napoli-related content on Instagram after the club mocked his penalty miss with a controversial TikTok post.
The Super Eagles striker fired blank and fluffed a spot kick attempt as the reigning Serie A champions were held to a goalless draw in Serie A by Bologna over the weekend.
In a now-deleted post on the platform, Napoli shared a video after the game depicting Osimhen missing from the spot along with a high-pitched voiceover mocking him.
