Arda Guler’s name dominated the headlines after he became a subject of transfer interest for many European giants since bursting onto the scene with Turkish club Fernabache.

The 18-year-old who eventually opted to sign for Real Madrid amid reports that a transfer to Barcelona was close, has seen his time at Los Blancos plagued with injuries.

Initially, the Turkish sensation had to deal with a meniscus injury, which eventually had him undergo surgery.

Guler who had spent a larger part of the summer rehabilitating from his operation, returned to the club’s first team training last week.

His return served as a welcome boost for Carlo Ancelotti’s men in attack, however, the young forward picked up an injury in the club’s final training session ahead of the game against UD Las Palmas.

Diagnosed with a muscle tear, the forward’s reaction to the news of his injury remains one many longed to hear and Italian manager Ancelotti has cleared the air on Guler’s latest injury.

Following his side’s 2-nil victory against Garcia Piamenta’s Las Palmas, the 64-year-old manager quizzed about Guler’s injury said to Diario AS:

“It’s not bad luck. Yesterday in the last training session he scored the last goal, they have evaluated him and he had a small injury. He is sad. He has recovered from the meniscus problem.
It is not a very serious thing, but it has not allowed him to be available.”

Real Madrid will be without Guler for the games against Girona, Napoli and Osasuna following Football Espana’s report that the 18-year-old would be available only after the international break.

Real Madrid suffers injury setback

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Real Madrid headed into the 2023/24 season looking the thinnest they had been in attack since the turn of the century.

The Spanish powerhouse, who sanctioned the departure of four forwards last season, failed to cover for these departures due to the proclaimed 'sufficiency and quality of its current attack'.

Sadly for Real Madrid, it took just three match days for the frailties in attack to be revealed after Vinicius Jr. was subbed off injured, clutching his thigh in the game away at Celta Vigo.
