In 2022, the 20-year-old striker had agreed to join the German side ahead of the 2023/24 season. He attracted a lot of interest from top European clubs but decided to move to Germany.

The Slovenian has started well for Leuipzig, scoring three goals in six appearances in all competitions. The Red Devils opted for Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund, who joined from Atalanta, per 90min.

Sesko now joins a long list of footballers who have rejected Man United, including Erling Haaland.

Why Sesko snubbed Man United

Speaking to Transfermarkt, the Slovenian striker said he wanted to come to Leipzig for many reasons.

"The thing is, I wasn't really involved in these kinds of [transfer] conversations. But I think it was better to come here."

He said the style of football persuaded him to join Leipzig.

"It was very important for me to go to a place that plays a similar style of football. I already knew what I had to do and didn’t have to go through a whole learning process again."

Last season, he scored 16 league goals for Red Bull Salzburg. At 20, he has 66 goals in his club career and seven for his country.

Ten Hag booed for subbing Hojlund

Sports Brief earlier reported on Man United manager Erik Ten Hag getting booed for subbing Rasmus Hojlund.

With United trailing 2-0 against Brighton, Ten Hag decided to make some changes, taking off Hojlund for Casemiro for Anthony Martial and Hannibal Mejbri, respectively.

But the decision to take off Hojlund did not sit well with Manchester United fans as boos rang out at Old Trafford following the manager’s decision.
