Brighton and Hove Albion could lose their manager next summer as Real Madrid are reportedly keen on taking up his services should Carlo Ancelotti leave the club.
Ancelotti looks destined to leave Real Madrid for a second time in June 2024, with Real Madrid chiefs reportedly being informed early enough so they have time to find a replacement.
Los Blancos are currently on the hunt for domestic and European glory after losing out to Barcelona and Manchester City last season.
However, Real Madrid are still looking ahead, and several names have been tossed in the rumour mill to replace the Italian, including De Zerbi.
Bayer Leverkusen boss, Xabi Alonso is another name on Real Madrid’s shortlist, as the Spaniard took his first managerial job by storm in Germany.
Brighton’s stance on De Zerbi
De Zerbi only took over Brighton last season, taking over from Graham Potter.
However, the Italian has proven to be a master tactician, as he guided the Seagulls to a Premier League-best finish, according to TalkSport.
He won fans over mainly because of his attractive style of playing football, which entails a more positive approach, regardless of the nature of the opposition.
Football365 reports that Brighton have a £ 11.2 million release clause on De Zerbi, but that is unlikely to deter a club of Real Madrid’s magnitude.
Reports further say that Brighton remain relaxed about their manager’s future, despite Real Madrid’s interest.
Meanwhile, Ancelotti will likely take over as Brazil’s national team boss.

FootballSports Brief also reported on Barcelona’s interest in embattled Manchester United winger, Jadon Sancho.
The 23-year-old forward’s dream move to Old Trafford has suddenly turned into a nightmare after a falling out with manager Erik ten Hag, which has seen him banished from the first-team squad.
According to Sport Bible, Barcelona want to take advantage of Sancho’s current situation at Manchester United as Xavi is looking to snap up high-profile signings at a bargain price.
