  • Victor Osimhen was in Napoli's starting XI against Udinese despite his continued row with the club
  • The striker delegated the penalty duties when his side were awarded a spot kick in the 19th minute
  • Osimhen would later get his name on the scoresheet before the break by scoring from inside the area

It has emerged that Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen refused to take his team's penalty attempt during their Serie A clash against Udinese on Wednesday night.

The Nigerian international was part of the starting XI as the defending Italian champions played hosts at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Osimhen's involvement in the tie came just a day after he was involved in a row with Napoli over a humiliating video of him shared by the club on social media.

Sky Sports reports the Serie A giants mocked their star by posting a clip of his penalty miss against Bologna last weekend, with the social media activity leaving the striker furious.

So distraught was the Super Eagles ace that he deleted almost everything associated with Napoli from his social media, with his agent, Roberto Calenda also threatening to take legal action.

Osimhen refuses to take penalty

The Mirror reports that the 24-year-old was presented with the opportunity to take Napoli's penalty against Udinese in the first half of the clash.

The hosts were awarded the spot kick in the 19th minute, but Osimhen refused to step up to take it. The forward instead handed over the duties to Piotr Zielinski, who comfortably slotted the ball home to hand his side the lead.

Yet that did not stop Osimhen from getting his name on the scoresheet, with the ex-Lille ace doubling his team's lead before the break.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia went on to add a third before Lazar Samardzic bagged a consolation goal for Udinese.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Osimhen's agent threatening legal action against Napoli after the club published a video mocking the striker on its official TikTok account.

The controversial post, which was subsequently deleted, showed the Nigerian failing to score from the spot against Bologna, along with a high-pitched and mocking voice.

Osimhen's agent, Calenda released a statement on social media on Tuesday evening, stating the actions of the club in its mockery of his client was simply 'not acceptable'.
