  • Victor Osimhen deleted all Napoli-related pictures on Instagram after the club trolled him on TikTok
  • The club had shared a video mocking the Nigerian striker following his penalty miss versus Bologna
  • Napoli manager Rudi Garcia has revealed that he spoke with the striker amid the ongoing club saga

Napoli head coach, Rudi Garcia has stated he spoke with Victor Osimhen about the controversial TikTok video purportedly mocking the striker.

Footage was posted on the club’s official TikTok handle trolling the 24-year-old for missing a penalty in their 0-0 draw with Bologna over the weekend.

Having hit the woodwork in the first half of the encounter, Osimhen missed a chance to give his side the win from the penalty spot in the second half.

A Bologna defender handled the ball in the danger area, prompting the referee to point to the spot. Osimhen stepped up but shot it wide as the Partenopei missed out on all three points.

On Tuesday, a video was shared on the official Napoli TikTok page, mocking the striker with a high-pitched voiceover and footage of him calling for the penalty and his subsequent missed effort.

The former Lille striker was reportedly infuriated by this and consequently deleted all Napoli-related pictures from Instagram, while his agent threatened legal action against the club, per AS.

Despite the ongoing tension surrounding the Serie A champions and Osimhen, the forward was included in their game against Udinese and was also on the scoresheet in their 4-1 win.

Garcia says he discussed TikTok clip with Osimhen

Garcia, in his reaction after the game on Wednesday night, said via Daily Express:

"We were frustrated after the draw vs. Bologna, then some awkward things on social media didn’t help us in the last two days. I spoke to Victor, it’s key to have him focused on the game - he’s gonna do his best for Napoli."

The Nigerian star is yet to respond directly to the TikTok video by his club, which was later taken down amid a flurry of negative reactions from fans and Osimhen's compatriots in particular.

Osimhen refuses to celebrate Napoli goal

Meanwhile, Sports Brief reported on Osimhen refusing to celebrate his goal against Udinese on Wednesday night, fuelling the impression that not all is well at Napoli.

The Nigerian striker was part of the club's starting XI for the Serie A clash, with his inclusion coming amid a reported spat between the player and the Italian champions.

The feud between Osimhen and Napoli seems to be far from over, however, with the Super Eagles ace refusing to celebrate his goal for the club on Wednesday night.
