  • Victor Osimhen is embroiled in a battle with Napoli after they posted a distasteful TikTok video
  • The striker scored in the club's 4-1 win over Udinese after he was called up for the game
  • Head coach, Rudi Garcia was quizzed on the controversy, particularly on the player's social media activities

Victor Osimhen reacted to Napoli's viral TikTok video mocking him with a subtle message on social media, which the attention of his manager has been drawn to.

The club released a video on their official TikTok platform mocking the Nigerian striker after his penalty miss against Bologna, which he has not taken well.

Amidst the ongoing controversy, he was called up for the game against Udinese by head coach Rudi Garcia, and he scored as the champions recorded a 4-1 win.

As noted by Goal, Osimhen refused to celebrate the goal in a show of unhappiness towards the club's social handler's actions, on which the club has yet to comment publicly.

Garcia reacts to Osimhen's Instagram activity

The 24-year-old removed most Napoli-related images on his Instagram page in the aftermath of the ongoing saga between him and the club, which further fuelled the fire of disharmony.

Speaking after the game, as quoted by Football Italia, head coach Rudi Garcia was asked about the reaction, and he claimed no one intended to hurt the other.

“Nobody wanted to be hurtful, not the TikTok with the video of Victor, nor Victor by taking his photographs down on social media. Nobody intended to hurt anyone, these are instinctive reactions and are understandable,” he said.
“It is his social media account, he can do what he wants with it. All I can say is that he loves this jersey and will give everything for Napoli this season as well.”

Osimhen and Garcia had their fair share of trouble after the player's angry reaction to his substitution against Bologna. The former Lille striker apologised to his manager and teammates afterwards.

Sports Brief reported on Osimhen's agent threatening Napoli with legal action after the official TikTok published a disparaging video about his client.

Roberto Calenda released a statement on social media condemning their act and making it clear the player reserved every right to take legal action and other necessary steps to protect himself.
