Legendary Nigerian midfielder, Mikel John Obi once revealed his pick for the best player between two veterans, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Both of these superstars have dominated the football world for close to two decades and scooped all the major awards and records you can think of.
Ronaldo and Messi are seen as the greatest of all time (GOATs) in football, with fans, pundits, celebrities, and even players still divided on who is best.
Having faced both players on numerous occasions during his active days, Super Eagles legend, Mikel gave his opinion on the debate.
The former Chelsea midfielder has much respect for both players but has a definite favourite among them. He said via FootballLive:
"Messi all day. For me, he’s from a different planet. So grateful to have been able to play with him; from the under-20s we started playing together. Played against him so many times I’m so privileged to have done that."
In a recent interview with Dubai Eye, per GOAL, Mikel went on to explain why he has never been a fan of Ronaldo and has always pitched his tent with the Argentine.
"I’ve never been a Ronaldo fan really. For me, when a player has so much ego, I don’t really get it. He’s never been one of my favourite players and that’s why I always go for Messi really," he stated.
