  • Barcelona players are working hard to improve their free-kick techniques
  • Four players battled each other in training, looking at who scored the most free-kicks
  • Barcelona have only scored one free-kick since Lionel Messi left the club

Barcelona players recently took part in an exciting free-kick battle in training following an emphatic comeback last weekend.

Four players, Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, Ronald Araujo and Jules Kounde took turns to score free-kicks in training.

The four players took their free-kicks in front of the free-kick wall mannequin, and it seemed everyone wanted to show off their skills.

First up was 16-year-old wonderkid Lamine Yamal, who is left-footed. He comfortably got it over the wall and into the far corner.

Striker Lewandowski was next, and for him, it was easy as a pie. Araujo and Kounde, who, despite being defenders, easily scored their free-kicks.

It is worth noting that Barcelona have scored one free-kick in a competitive match since Lionel Messi left them for French Champions Paris Saint-Germain 2021.

Ferran Torres was the man to do so after scoring for Barcelona on September 16th in their impressive 5-0 win over Real Betis in La Liga.

They had taken a staggering 41 shots without finding the net from a direct free-kick, which shows how incredibly talented Messi was, per Goal.

Therefore, Barcelona players could be looking to take over from the great man who left the club a few seasons ago.

The former Bayern Munich striker said he is unmoved by the rumours linking him with Saudi Arabia, and he is happy at Barcelona.

"I don't even think about it (going to Saudi). I'm super happy in Barcelona, in the team, in the city, with my family. As a person I am happy," the Poland striker said.

He won the Pichichi Trophy last season, scoring 23 goals, helping Barcelona lift the La Liga title.

Lamine Yamal earns a standing ovation

Sports Brief also reported on Yamal getting a standing ovation from Villarreal fans after his electrifying performance for Barcelona in their thrilling seven-goal contest at the Estadio de la Ceramica.

After playing a role in the Catalans' fourth goal, Xavi decided to substitute him. As he made his way to the bench, he was greeted with an enthusiastic standing ovation from fans - mostly of the opposition team.
