Barcelona's financial inadequacies and struggles were made clear following the global COVID-19 pandemic of 2020.

Quizzed about the earliest time the Catalan club would be out of its financial struggles, Tebas said:
"It has improved a lot. They have made an effort in their salary bill. I think they still have to make an effort for next season, but they have managed to incorporate good players," he said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
As quoted by Barca Universal, the 61-year-old added:
"If they sell a player, they will be able to bring new ones. It is not yet in the 1/1 rule."
Fans of the Catalan club would hope the club's problematic financial situation would be resolved sooner rather than later, following reports the club may find it more difficult to get key players on loan next summer as it did this transfer window.
