FootballHarry Kane’s Hattrick Ensures Bochum, Monchengladbach, Others Set Unwanted Bundesliga Record
- Harry Kane has had a blistering start to life at German club Bayern Munich
- The former Tottenham forward scored a hat-trick in his side's seven-nil victory against VFL Bochum
- The victory meant Bochum, alongside other teams, set an unwanted Bundesliga record
Harry Kane continued his blistering start to life at Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich as he ensured the Bavarians returned to the summit of the league table.
The 30-year-old forward was at the centre of things as his hat-trick, coupled with two assists, ensured Thomas Tuchel's side claimed a resounding victory against VFL Bochum.
Kane's exceptional hat-trick not only established a new Bayern goalscoring record in the Bundesliga, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, but also etched an unwanted chapter in the league's history. The Bundesliga witnessed an unprecedented albeit unwanted record since its inception in 1962.
Bochum, Monchengladbach, set Bundesliga record
According to Opta, the Bundesliga saw an unprecedented development in its long history as, for the very first time, five teams remained winless after the initial five games of the season.
At the bottom of the table, Mainz languished with just one point, accompanied by Darmstadt and Koln. Borussia Monchengladbach have accumulated just two points in the current season, while Bochum have secured three.
Monchengladbach find themselves dangerously positioned, just one point above the relegation playoff zone. The team appointed Gerardo Seoane, formerly the head coach of Bayer Leverkusen, during the summer.
Despite a promising start that saw them netting four goals against Augsburg on the opening weekend, they conceded an equal number of goals. Seoane's squad also narrowly succumbed to Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig and its upcoming fixtures pose significant challenges for the club, with matches against Bochum, Mainz, and Köln on the horizon.
Bayern held by Leverkusen despite early Kane goal
FootballA victory for Bochum against Bayern could have avoided this unwanted record; however, Kane had other ideas on the night.
Kane makes Bayern history
Sports Brief earlier reported on Kane making Bayern history after his hat-trick against VfL Bochum.
Kane became the first player in Bayern history to score seven goals in the first five league appearances.
Gerd Müller (1965), Miroslav Klose (2007), and Mario Mandžukić (2012) all scored five goals in the first five league games.
