Atletico Madrid President Makes Blunder As He Offers Verdict on Barcelona’s Joao Felix

Joao Felix blistering start to life at reigning La Liga Champions Barcelona has not gone unnoticed. The 23-year-old Portuguese who struggled to find his feet for the better part of his four-year stay at Madrid-based club Atletico, has made light work of adjusting to life and fitting into the set-up of Xavi Hernandez's Catalan side.

The forward who has found the back of the net three times and provided two assists in his first four games, have left many at the Atleti hierarchy bemused at the forward failure to fully integrate into the set-up created by long-serving manager Deigo Simeone.

Ahead of the first Madrid Derby against Real Madrid, club president Enrico Cerezo, offering his verdict on the 23-year-old forward, made a blunder which has since generated a flurry of fan reactions.

Atleti's president makes error on Felix

The 75-year-old, speaking to the media ahead of his side's victory against Real Madrid was quizzed about Felix.

His response was one that raised eyebrows among many

As quoted by Barca Times, he said:

"Vinicius is a fantastic player, and he's proving it at Barcelona. He didn't adapt to us. He wasn't ready, but remember that he's an Atlético player."

He meant to refer to Félix.

Fans have however found the humour in the club president's blunder and taken to social media to react;

Barcelona fans nonetheless hope the club's hierarchy will be able to reach an agreement for a permanent transfer of Felix who had prior to his loan transfer named the Blaugrana as his dream club, as reported by Goal.
