FootballChelsea Star Gets Ban During Aston Villa Defeat After Ignoring Pochettino’s Warning
- Nicolas Jackson is set to miss Chelsea's next match against Fulham on October 2
- The forward is banned for the tie after he picked up his fifth yellow card on Sunday
- Jackson was booked for appearing to prevent Emi Martinez from taking a free-kick
Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson has received a one-game ban after he picked up another yellow card during his side's Premier League clash against Aston Villa.
Jackson has not had a bright start to life since he joined the Blues in the summer from Villarreal in a £32 million deal.
The Senegalese had picked up four yellow cards ahead of Chelsea's meeting with Aston Villa on Sunday, with the bookings coming largely for dissent.
According to Sportbible, the youngster picked up another needless yellow card during the Stamford Bridge cracker, leading to his suspension.
Jackson was booked by referee Jarred Gillet for standing close to the ball to prevent goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez from taking a quick free-kick.
The 22-year-old will therefore miss his side's clash against London rivals Fulham, which is scheduled for October 2.
Pochettino warns Jackson
Jackson's one-game ban came just a day after Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino sent him a fiery warning over his cases of indiscipline on the pitch.
Speaking ahead of the Aston Villa clash, the Argentine revealed he had had discussions with the ex-Villarreal star over his lack of discipline and asked him to stay cautious.
“I talked to him today. We were talking about that. We had a meeting with him and Enzo (Fernandez)," the Argentine told The Athletic. “I said ‘come on, for a striker to have four yellow cards, to protest…to talk with the referee."
“You need to get some yellow cards for different actions not because of that. It’s so easy, so cheap. I think he could put the team in a really difficult situation (if it continues). He understood," he added.
