Nigerian international Victor Boniface has continued with his impressive scoring form in the German Bundesliga as Bayer Leverkusen thrashed Heidenheim 4-1 on Sunday.
It took the striker just nine minutes before he opened the scoring in the encounter, but the visitors restored parity courtesy of a fine finish by Eren Dinkci in the 58th minute.
Jonas Hofmann restored the lead for Leverkusen in the 63rd minute, then Boniface tucked home from the penalty spot to make it 3-1 in the 74th minute.
Amine Adli sealed the win in the 82nd minute after he found the back of the net to make it 4-1 in regulation time.
With the victory, Leverkusen continue to pile the pressure on league leaders Bayern Munich, as both sides are on 13 points after five games each this season.
Vanguard reports that 22-year-old Boniface from Nigeria is proving to be a shrewd acquisition at 20.5million euros as he takes his tally to eight goals for his new club.
