FootballXavi: Barcelona Coach Reaches Incredible La Liga Milestone After Superb Comeback vs Celta Vigo
- Xavi Hernandez is enjoying his job as Barcelona's boss
- In their latest game, they came back from 0-2 down to beat Celta Vigo to continue their unbeaten start to the season
- Xavi now has 50 La Liga wins in 70 games
Barcelona were on track to suffer their first defeat of the season on Saturday, but Xavi Hernandez's men produced a dramatic comeback from 0-2 down to beat Celta Vigo.
The win gave Xavi his 50th La Liga win, and that was a great way to do it.
The reigning Las Liga champions were second best for 80 minutes and were deservedly 0-2 down against Rafael Benitez's side, but they produced magic in the last ten minutes to take the win.
Last season's top scorer in La Liga, Robert Lewandowski, bagged twice in the 81st and 85th minute before former Manchester City right-back Joao Cancelo struck late in the game to seal the three points.
Celtas Vigo scored in the 19th and 76th minute and were on course for a shock win but were stunned.
Xavi's new milestone
Xavi now has 50 wins in La Liga from 70 games. He also has 10 defeats and 10 draws, per Transfermarkt.
Only four managers in Barcelona's history got to 50 wins in fewer matches. Luis Enrique did it in 63 games, Pep Guardiola 67, Helenio Herrera in 68, and Ernesto Valverde in 69.
Xavi has brought a La Liga title to Camp Nou already, and despite the financial challenges, the club is looking to defend it this season. Xavi was recently rewarded with a new contract set to expire in 2025.
He returned to Barcelona in 2021 after leaving for Al-Saad in Qatar in 2015.
