  • Martin Odegaard signed a new bumper deal with Arsenal on Friday
  • The deal will see the Norwegian become the Gunners' highest-earning player
  • Kai Havertz, who joined Arsenal from Chelsea, has been the club's best earner

Bukayo Saka has broken his silence after Martin Odegaard became Arsenal's best-paid player.

Odegaard recently penned a new bumper deal with the Gunners that will keep him at the Emirates Stadium until 2028.

The Norwegian followed in the footsteps of the likes of William Saliba, Gabriel Martinelli, Aaron Ramsdale, and Saka himself in committing their futures to the north London club.

According to Sportbible, Odegaard's new deal will see him become the top earner at the Emirates ahead of Kai Havertz.

The Arsenal skipper will be pocketing weekly wages in the region of £280,000, making him the best earner at the club.

Saka reacts to Odegaard's new deal

Speaking on Odegaard's new lucrative contract, Saka suggested the midfielder is worth every penny.

According to the English forward, the former Real Madrid ace is an integral part of the Arsenal squad, adding that he deserved the contract.

"He’s really important, not just as a player, as a leader as well. He leads in a different way but I love it and respect it. We all know he’s got unbelievable quality, creating goals and scoring goals and being the captain that we all love," Saka said via Metro UK.

"I don’t mind being stuck with him! I’m happy for him and he deserves the new contract," he added.

Saka, Son meet ahead of London derby

Sports Brief earlier reported that Saka and Heung-min Son sent the internet into a meltdown after the two were spotted together ahead of this weekend's North London Derby.

The two titans will come face to face for the first time this season on September 24 when Spurs make the short trip across London to the Emirates Stadium. It will be the first time that Ange Postecoglou will be taking part in this derby.

However, the derby had an intriguing twist when Saka and new Spurs skipper, Son, were spotted taking photographs at Burberry SS24 during London Fashion Week.
