Bayern Munich's record ₤103 million fee spent on Harry Kane continues to appear increasingly like a shrewd investment as the season unfolds.
The 30-year-old forward has been pivotal to Thomas Tuchel's side's early season title charge since his move to the Allianz Arena and was in midweek crucial to the Bavarians defeating English giants Manchester United in their UEFA Champions League opener on Wednesday.
The former Tottenham star who has found the back of the net in all of his Bundesliga appearances so far had within reach of a league record in any instance he found the net against Bundesliga strugglers VFL Bochum.
Kane not passing up the opportunity to etch his name in the Bavarians' history books, smashed the record and in quite some style.
Harry Kane smashes Bundesliga record
As reported by Bavarian Football Works, the English forward was within touch in distance of breaking the record of the of the best Bundesliga start for any player in Bayern's history.
The record, which has stood since 1965, is jointly shared by Gerd Müller, Miroslav Klose and Mario Mandzukic who were all on five goals after five matchdays in the Bundesliga.
However, as reported by TalkSports Kane smashed the ceiling as he recorded a hattrick as Bayern thumped Bochum.
In addition to his goals, the 30-year-old also provided two assists, making him the first player on record to be directly involved in ten goals in his first five Bundesliga appearances.
The 7-0 victory over Bochum also marked another remarkable achievement for Bayern as they scored seven goals against them for the second consecutive year, with the minnows narrowly avoiding relegation from the top flight last season.
