Football“Trying to Be Casemiro,”: Fans React to Man City Star Rodri’s Red Card Against Nottingham
- Manchester City midfielder Rodri has been sent off against Nottingham Forest
- The Spanish midfielder grabbed Morgan Gibbs-White's neck during an altercation
- Fans have reacted to the incident after Man Utd midfielder Casemiro was sent off for similar offence last season
Manchester City saw out the rest of their game against Nottingham Forest with 10 men after midfielder Rodri was sent off for violent conduct in the 46th minute.
City raced to a 2-0 lead in the first half thanks to goals from Phil Foden and household name Erling Haaland to go into halftime in the lead and comfortable.
Pep Guardiola's side are looking to make it six wins out of six, the only Premier League team to have a perfect start to the season and could be on course for history if they retain their title.
City have been the dominant side, enjoying the lion's share of the possession. As noted by TNT Sports, the champions made 46 passes in the buildup to Foden's goal, a league-high since 2014.
Fans react to Rodri's red card
Rodri is Man City's ever-present defensive midfielder, but the team will be without him for the next three games after he was given a straight red card for grabbing Morgan Gibbs-White's neck during an altercation in the opening minute of the second half.
It was his first-ever career red card, and he is already getting trolled on social media by rival fans, particularly Manchester United, who have likened the situation to how Casemiro was sent off against Crystal Palace last season for grabbing Will Hughes.
