Mauricio Pochettino has sent new Chelsea summer signing Nicolas Jackson a fiery warning ahead of their Premier League meeting with Aston Villa.

The Blues are scheduled to host Aston Villa on Sunday, September 24, in a decisive tie to be played at Stamford Bridge.

The match comes at a time Chelsea have endured a frustrating start to the new season, winning only one of their five opening fixtures of the new campaign.

The west Londoners' only victory came against newly-promoted side Luton Town, with their latest outing ending in a drab draw against Bournemouth.

Pochettino warns Jackson

Speaking ahead of the Aston Villa meeting, Pochettino took some time to send Jackson a cautionary note over his disciplinary issues.

According to Metro UK, the Senegalese is on the verge of a one-game suspension, having been booked on four separate occasions for showing dissent so far this season.

And with referees clamping down on such behaviour, Pochettino contends his striker must adapt quickly.

"Today we were talking about that as we had a meeting with him and also Enzo," said Pochettino at his pre-match press conference.
"A striker, four yellow cards only for talking with the referee. Not because of that, it is so cheap and it is going to bring a difficult situation to the team. He understood.
"Jackson is young, he is going to be a fantastic player. He needs to be calm and relaxed," he added.

Jackson sealed a move to the EPL this summer from Villareal, with the youngster penning an eight-year deal with Chelsea, per Sky Sports.

Sterling backs Pochettino

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Raheem Sterling, who joined Chelsea from Manchester City in the summer of 2022, has now declared that Pochettino is the right man for the job at Stamford Bridge.

While Poch will be inheriting a shell-shocked squad which finished a lowly 12th with a paltry 44 points, Sterling contends he has what it takes to steer the club to greater heights.
