  • Martin Odegaard became the latest player to commit to the Arsenal through a long-term deal
  • The Norwegian joined Arsenal permanently from Real Madrid in August 2021
  • He has since been integral for Mikel Arteta’s side and was ultimately handed the captain’s arm-band

Martin Odegaard is set to become Arsenal’s highest earner after penning a new deal with the club.

On Friday, September 22, it was announced that the 24-year-old has signed a five-year deal to stay at the Emirates. He initially signed a four-year deal when he permanently joined Arsenal in 2021.

Speaking on the new deal, Odegaard said:

“Signing a new contract was a really easy decision for me for lots of reasons. Mainly what we are doing right now as a club is special and I want to be a part of that.”

Odegaard has featured 112 times in an Arsenal shirt, scoring 27 goals and registering 15 assists.

Arsenal’s highest-paid players

Following Odegaard’s signature, the Norway international is set to soar to the top in the list of the clubs highest earners.

According to Sportac, Kai Haverz is the current highest earner at the Emirates, taking home a staggering £280,000 every week.

But with Odegaard’s new and improved contract, the young attacking midfielder is set to be in a league of his own.

Here are the top earners at Arsenal, as cited on SportBible.

Martin Odegaard - £280,000+

Kai Havertz - £280,000

Gabriel Jesus - £265,000

Declan Rice - £240,000

Thomas Partey - £200,000

Bukayo Saka - £195,000

William Saliba - £190,000

Oleksandar Zinchenko - £150,000

Ben White - £120,000

Jorginho - £110,000

Odegaard will be hoping to further inspire his side to more victories, with the next game being a crunch North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur.

Saka and Son in awkward situation

Sports Brief also reported on an interesting video of Heung Min Son and Bukayo Saka awkwardly sitting next to each other.

The two are both ambassadors of the luxury brand, and inevitably had to run into each other at the fashion event earlier this week.

In the front row of the catwalk, the two superstars were forced to sit next to each other, but unlike at footballing events, no niceties were exchanged between the pair.
