Luis Enrique has hailed Paris Saint-Germain star, Kylian Mbappe as 'the best player in the world'.

The former Barcelona coach bestowed this title upon the French forward after his outstanding performance in PSG's Champions League opener against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday evening.

Mbappe initiated the scoring with a successful penalty before Moroccan right-back, Achraf Hakimi extended the lead with a splendid goal later in the second half as the Parisians claimed victory.

During the match, PSG displayed absolute dominance, with the French forward proving to be an unstoppable force.

His goal against the Bundesliga giants brought his total tally in the ongoing campaign to eight goals in five matches across all competitions under Enrique, as recorded by Transfermarkt.

To provide context, the 24-year-old has scored 22 times and contributed eight assists in his last 23 appearances in the competition, per Livescore.

Mbappe's astonishing statistics have earned widespread acclaim from football enthusiasts, with his head coach adding his voice to the chorus of praise for the 2018 World Cup winner.

Enrique even went so far as to label him as the finest footballer on the planet, emphasising the forward's exceptional leadership qualities.

"Kylian Mbappé is the best player in the world, trust me," Enrique said as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
"More than his technical skills, what has impressed me is his human quality. It's a pleasure to have him in the dressing room - he's a leader who always has a smile on his face."

Sports Brief also noted the PSG superstar has effortlessly resumed his impressive form from the previous season, maintaining a remarkable streak of contributing to at least one goal per game.
