  • Thomas Tuchel was appointed by Bayern Munich after the sacking of Julian Nagelsmann
  • The former Chelsea boss has had a far-from-impressive spell at the Bavarian club's helm
  • The 50-year-old tactician has reportedly received a warning from Bayern Munich's board

Thomas Tuchel continues to divide opinions as the head coach of Bayern Munich.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager, who was appointed by the Bavarians after the surprise sacking of Julian Nagelsmann in March, has been far from impressive since his takeover.

Under the reign of the 50-year-old tactician, Bayern Munich suffered a humiliating exit from the 2022/23 DFB-Pokal and the UEFA Champions League tournaments.

The Bundesliga champions did clinch the Bundesliga title last season, only thanks to rivals Borussia Dortmund bottling their lead by failing to win against Mainz.

Under Tuchel, Bayern Munich kicked off their 2023/24 season with a humiliating 3-0 home loss in the German Super Cup against RB Leipzig.

The run of relatively unimpressive results under the former PSG boss has reportedly led to intervention by the club's board, which recently held a meeting with the manager, per Bild.

Bayern Munich board meets with Tuchel

Following a 2-1 comeback win away at Gerardo Seoane's Borussia Monchengladbach, the Bayern Munich hierarchy held a meeting, with Uli Hoeneß, Herbert Hainer, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, and Jan-Christian Dreesen in attendance.

Tuchel was reportedly given a strict warning by the club's board to be 'less emotional and less pessimistic' about the Bavarians publicly and not upset his players with his comments - and to instead focus on making Bayern the 'ruthless side they once were'.

So far, it appears little has changed since the reported meeting, with the recent draw recorded against Bayer Leverkusen seeming only to have further heightened the tension at the club.

Bayern will shift attention to their UEFA Champions League campaign, which kicks off against Manchester United. Tuchel will hope they can secure a record-equalling seventh title this season, as reported by CBS Sports.

Bayern Munich suffer injury scare

Sports Brief also reported on Bayern Munich receiving a massive setback ahead of their UEFA Champions League group stage opener against Manchester United on September 20.

The Bavarians have been hit with the unfortunate news that veteran midfielder, Joshua Kimmich might not be available for selection for the crunch tie after picking up an injury.
