Former Black Stars coach, James Kwesi Appiah has been named the new coach of the Sudanese national football team.
The 63-year-old, who led Ghana to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, returns to the North African country after a spell with Al Khartoum between 2014 to 2017.
Appiah is expected to lead Sudan back to the Africa Cup of Nations after the country failed to qualify for the next edition in Ivory Coast.
According to GHANASoccernet, the former Black Stars captain signed a three-year deal to become the new head coach of Sudan.
The experienced gaffer had two spells with the Black Stars, coaching the team from 2012 to 2014 before returning for a second time between 2017 and 2020.
Since then, he has been working on the domestic scene in various positions.
Appiah was the Technical Director of Kenpong Academy before taking over as the Interim Management Committee chairman of Asante Kotoko, as reported by footballghana.com.
His appointment as Sudan coach means his job with the Porcupine Warriors will also come to an end.
Appiah reapplied for Black Stars job
Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Appiah re-applying for the Ghana job, explaining that he is experienced enough to lead the Black Stars again.
At the time of the report, the former Ghana coach had hoped to make a return to the national team, after Otto Addo stepped down as manager.
According to Appiah, he had been persuaded to re-apply for the national coaching job after no Ghanaian coach had shown interest in the post.

Sports Brief previously reported on former Ghana coach, Appiah revealing why he invited Mohammed Kudus to the Ghanaian national team.
He gave the then FC Nordsjaelland player his Black Stars debut in a game against South Africa in Cape Coast, with many calling it a mistake.
Kudus was introduced as a second-half substitute and went on to score the goal that sealed victory for Ghana against Bafana Bafana.
