Without Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the picture this season, new stars are set to take up the reins in Europe as the 2023/24 season gets off to an exciting start.
This is the first time in the last 20 seasons that both Messi and Ronaldo will not be involved in a European football season after both superstars sealed moves to Inter Miami and Al-Nassr, respectively.
Usual suspects, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe - touted as heirs to the veterans' throne - have had a decent start to the new football season in Europe with seven league goals apiece.

Erling Haaland goals: 12 of the best goals by The Terminator
FootballMeanwhile, Haaland has been widely tipped to lose out to Messi in the race for the 2023 Ballon d’Or award despite having a phenomenal season for Manchester City, GOAL reports.
The Norwegian scored 52 goals in all competitions, claiming the Premier League Golden Boot and helping Man City to the treble of the EPL, the FA Cup, and the Champions League.
However, Messi won the 2022 World Cup with Argentina, the Ligue 1 title with Paris Saint-Germain, and also helped Inter Miami to the club’s first trophy by clinching the Leagues Cup.
