Greenwood took to the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez pitch, marking his debut for Getafe after completing a deadline-day transfer to the Spanish side.

This appearance also marked the striker's first competitive game since being suspended by Manchester United around 20 months ago.

According to talkSPORT, the Red Devils had been working towards reintegrating the Englishman into the team over a year and a half after his suspension due to various charges, including assault.

Following his signing with Getafe, the United academy graduate had to bide his time until September 17, before finally making his much-anticipated debut against Osasuna, per the BBC.

He entered the game as a substitute in the 77th minute. Despite his nearly two-year absence from football, the 21-year-old provided a tantalising glimpse of his potential during his brief appearance.

Meanwhile, Greenwood received an unusual supporter in the form of Man United's Amad Diallo, as the striker at long last made his highly anticipated debut for Getafe.

As Sports Brief reported, the youngster, who is trying to revive his football career, recently completed a transfer to the La Liga side in a loan move away from Old Trafford.

Osasuna faces sanctions over Greenwood chants

Sports Brief also reported that Osasuna faces La Liga sanctions after visiting fans aimed chants at Greenwood after was subbed on, with many screaming ‘die’ during the encounter.

The 21-year-old was making his first appearance in 20 months after coming on as a substitute. Getafe ran out with a 3-2 victory but the new signee faced hostility from Osasuna fans.
