- Roma manager Jose Mourinho sent a message to his former side after the game
Jose Mourinho was in his element with a message to Inter Milan after his AS Roma side beat Empoli 7-0 to record the biggest win of the Serie A matchweek four.
Roma put the struggles of the first three games behind them by picking up a point and dismantling the bottom-of-the-table team with a seven-star performance.
Paulo Dybala got on the scoresheet twice, Romelu Lukaku and Renato Sanches netted their first goals, and Bryan Cristante scored a screamer, while Empoli also scored an own goal.
Lukau and Sanches joined Roma on respective season-long loans: the Belgian from Jose's former club Chelsea, and the Portuguese midfielder from Paris Saint-Germain.
Mourinho sends message to Inter
Roma are the second side Mourinho is managing in Italy, having previously managed Inter Milan.
The Nerazzurri were close to re-signing Lukaku on a permanent deal before they withdrew due to the player's attitude, as reported by Foot Italia.
The Belgian made his full debut for Roma yesterday, having come off the bench in the 2-1 loss to AC Milan. He scored sixth in the 7-0 win, his first for the club.
Speaking to DAZN via Tutto Mercato, the Special One reiterated how the striker can be made to perform optimally and stylishly to appease his former club over the summer transfer saga.
"Romelu needs to be happy, to feel loved and wanted. Here, he immediately felt that the team needed a player like him. He obviously likes to win, it's his nature," he said.
"At Inter, they don't have a reason to be angry, they won the derby 5-1, they are very strong and have many attackers. They must be happy for their former coach who needed Lukaku."
