Lionel Messi is using his day off to do father duties for his son, Thiago, who joined Inter Miami Academy U12 weeks ago.
Messi moved to the United States of America with Major League Soccer franchise Inter Miami after calling it quits on his adventure in Europe, having last played for Paris Saint-Germain.
He has transformed the club from being the worst in the MLS to a force to reckon with. He helped the club win their first-ever trophy - the inaugural Leagues Cup.
Miami are unbeaten since Messi joined the team and won their last game against Sporting Kansas City in his absence as he was away on international duty with Argentina.
Messi spotted at Inter Miami academy
As seen in a video recirculated on X (formerly Twitter) by @WeAreMessi, the Argentina captain was spotted sitting on the floor at pitchside with his sons, Mateo and Ciro, waiting to watch Thiago in action.
CBS Sports reported that Thiago, 10, joined the team's academy three weeks ago, ahead of the U12 season, in a bid to continue his football development.
His presence at the game further confirmed he would be absent for tonight's game against Atlanta United as he did not travel with the team.
Thiago Messi makes Inter Miami debut
Sports Brief reported that Thiago Messi made his Inter Miami debut in a friendly game for the U12, helping the team to a 2-0 victory over Weston FC in their first game.
The 10-year-old joined the academy weeks ago and has been training with the team while his father continues to generate waves in his new adventure.
