Unai Emery faults Granit Xhaka after midfielder clashed with Arsenal fans

- Unai Emery has expressed his displeasure with Granit Xhaka who was involved in an angry clash with Arsenal fans

- This was after the midfielder was substituted in the second half during Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace

- The Swiss international is already a divisive figure among Arsenal's support base just weeks after being named club captain

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has hinted Granit Xhaka could lose the armband following his angry clash with fans at Emirates Stadium during the draw with Crystal Palace.

The Gunners had to settle for a 2-2 draw against their London rivals after surrendering a two-goal advantage at half-time.

Emery would later substitute Xhaka in the second half for youngster Bukayo Saka in what appeared to be a tactical change.

However, the decision did not go down well with the player who angrily responded by waving his arms at the crowd before cupping his ears towards them.

He went on to allegedly mouth some obscenities as he stormed towards the tunnel amid jeers from supporters.

When asked if Xhaka would remain captain, Arsenal boss Unai Emery pointedly replied: "Now is not the time to talk about that."

"We need to stay calm and speak to him internally about that. He was not right to do that," he continued.

The Swiss midfielder was named club captain back in September as replacement for Laurent Koscielny who controversially left the club in the summer.

He has, however, emerged a divisive figure among the Arsenal support base, with some calling for his axing from the squad.
