Cristiano Ronaldo paved the way when he left Manchester United to join Al-Nassr. Since then, many players have followed suit.

Sadio Mane, Riyad Mahrez, Karim Benzema, Neymar and even exciting young talents like Gabri Veiga moved to the Saudi Pro League.

Others like Lewandowski, Mohamed Salah and Kylian Mbappe rejected the move, opting to remain at their current teams.

Only the Premier League spent more money than the SPL. They splashed £701.3 million in the summer transfer window, beating the rest of Europe's top five leagues.

France's Ligue 1 spent £688.8 million, German Bundesliga splashed £610.8 million, Italian Seriea spent £569.6 million, while Spain's La Liga spent £324.9 million, per Sky Sports.

The former Bayern Munich striker said he is unmoved by the rumours linking him with Saudi Arabia, and he is happy at Barcelona.

"I don't even think about it (going to Saudi). I'm super happy in Barcelona, in the team, in the city, with my family. As a person I am happy," the Poland striker reiterated via 90min.

The 35-year-old revealed he was planning on going to the MLS before the Coronavirus pandemic, but he is only focused on Barcelona now.

"Before the coronavirus pandemic, the idea of MLS was firmly in my head, but somehow I changed my mind afterwards. After the Barcelona chapter, it's hard to imagine going there."

He won the Pichichi Trophy last season, scoring 23 goals, helping Barcelona lift the La Liga title.

Lewandowski blasts La Liga referees

In another report, Sports Brief stated that Robert Lewandowski has criticised the standard of officiating in Spanish football, joining several other superstars who have blasted referees in La Liga over poor officiating.

The 34-year-old forward led Barcelona to the La Liga title last season but was appalled by the level of officiating, which he admits has made the Spanish topflight unattractive.
