  • Calvin Bassey was happy to see fellow Nigerian, Alex Iwobi in training for the first time
  • The Super Eagles forward missed the international break due to a hamstring injury
  • Both players could feature for the Cottagers against Luton Town in the Premier League this weekend

Super Eagles star, Calvin Bassey was in a joyous mood after seeing fellow Nigerian international Alex Iwobi at Fulham's training ground for the first time.

The former Arsenal forward completed a move to Fulham from Everton on the final day of the summer transfer window.

Following Iwobi's move to the London side, he became the second Nigerian international at Craven Cottage alongside Bassey, who joined the club in the summer from Ajax.

Fulham posted on their official page on X to show how happy Bassey was after seeing Iwobi at the training ground for the first time since he joined the club from the Toffees, according to Soccernet.

Iwobi was not available for training before the international break due to a hamstring injury he suffered during his time with Everton this season.

The injury ruled the former Arsenal player out of Nigeria's final 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe in Uyo.

The former Everton man was not necessarily missed as the Super Eagles thrashed the Falcons and the True Parrots 6-0, with goals from Victor Osimhen, Taiwo Awoniyi, Ademola Lookman, and Samuel Chukwueze.

With the international break being over, Fulham are back in training for the Premier League fixture against newly promoted side Luton Town.

Iwobi and Bassey could be on the pitch at the same time for the Cottagers against a team that has lost all their games this season in the English top flight.

Iwobi wants to be like Okocha

Sports Brief earlier reported that Fulham's new signing, Alex Iwobi has claimed that he wants to create Premier League memories like his legendary uncle, Austin Jay Jay Okocha.

Okocha created a lot of Premier League memories during his time with Bolton Wanderers.

Iwobi, during an interview with Fulham TV, said that he witnessed some of Okocha's games at his new home ground Craven Cottage and hopes to create more memories.
