FootballKyle Walker: Man City use Wolf of Wall street skit to announce right back’s new deal; Video
- Kyle Walker’s previous Manchester City deal ran until 2024
- There were rumours that the right-back could depart the Etihad over the summer
- However, the England international has put speculation about his future to bed in a hilarious fashion
Manchester City ace, Kyle Walker has committed to the club in a new deal, and the announcement was made on social media in a hilarious fashion.
During the summer, it almost looked like City would lose another of their prized assets as Walker was heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich.
The Etihad club has already lost Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez, and Walker’s future was up in the air after he publicly aired his frustrations of not starting in the Champions League final.
But he eventually ended up staying at City, though that did little to quell speculation over his future, as his current deal runs out in the summer of 2024.
In August, Manchester Evening News reported Walker had “agreed personal terms” with Bayern, a development that will surely have rattled Manchester City fans.
“I’m not leaving!”
All speculation surrounding Walker’s future was, however, put to bed on Thursday, September 14, thanks to a hilarious video shared by Manchester City.
In the video, Kyle Walker imitates the character Jordan Belfort, portrayed by the legendary Leonardo Di Caprio in the movie Wolf of Wall Street.
Walker is standing on a podium, while the rest of the audience, who are portrayed as Manchester City players, anxiously wait for his announcement.
In classic Wolf of Wall Street fashion, Walker states, ”I’m not leaving,” before the rest of the squad, including Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva, burst into celebration.
Football insider Fabrizio Romano disclosed that the right-back has signed a new deal that will keep him at the Etihad until 2026.
Manchester City star used to work at bakery 4 years ago
FootballCity’s director of football welcomed the new deal, hailing Walker as “the best right back in the world”.
"For me, he is the best right-back in the world, a player with a unique set of attributes. He brings a very special dynamic to our team. Kyle has been a huge part of our recent success."
The right-back has started in all of Manchester City’s four league games this season, as the Cityzens remain the only team with a 100% record so far.
Grealish on his massive calves
In related news, Jack Grealish opened up about his extraordinary calves as he attempted to make sense of what he does to keep them so well-defined.
Speaking on the fourth edition of Champions Journal in 2022, the 28-year-old discussed his well-defined legs.
According to the winger, it was all down to genetics.
"I actually don’t do anything. It’s just something that runs in the family. My grandad always had big calves when he used to play football. I don’t do any calf exercises or calf routines in the gym or anything. Honestly, it’s just something that I’ve had since I was young," he said.
