The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to face top sides in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted by Ivory Coast.

The Nigerian national team booked a place in next year's competition ahead of the likes of Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe in Group A, with Guinea-Bissau also joining them in the tournament.

The Super Eagles sealed qualification with one game to go and ended the qualifying series with a resounding 6-0 win over Sao Tome and Principe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

Africa's football governing body, CAF, confirmed all the teams that qualified for the competition on their official page on X.

The draw for the group stage of the competition is yet to be made, but Nigeria will face one of the top African football countries in the tournament.

The draw is scheduled for October 12, according to reports in The Punch.

CAF have decided to use the latest FIFA ranking to determine the top seeds of each six groups.

Nigeria are currently sixth in the CAF rankings, but won't be in Pot One. They will be replaced by the host nation Ivory Coast, since all the top-ranked teams from 1-5 are in the competition.

It means that the Super Eagles will face one of Ivory Coast, Algeria, Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, or Egypt in group stages of the competition next year.

Nigeria are in Pot Two alongside Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ghana, Mali, and South Africa. In Pot Three are DR Congo, Cape Verde, Zambia, Equatorial Guinea, and Mauritania.

Pot Four consists of Guinea-Bissau, Angola, Namibia, Mozambique, Gabon, and Tanzania.

Collins: How Nigeria Can Win AFCON

Sports Brief earlier reported that Super Eagles star, Jamilu Collins has fired a warning to other countries ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The former Paderborn left-back was one of the players in the Super Eagles squad that thrashed Sao Tome and Principe 6-0 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

Collins, during an interview with Complete Sports, fired a warning to opponents ahead of the competition, claiming he strongly believes that the Super Eagles can win it.
