Selfie-seeking football fans practically mobbed goalkeeper Andre Onana at the Yaounde International Airport as he departed his home country to rejoin his teammates at Manchester United.

Onana returned to the Cameroonian national team again after an infamous spat with coach Rigobert Song during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The goalkeeper did not fully reveal why he left the team during the World Cup in Qatar, but things like 'injustice' and 'manipulation' may have been reasons for his departure.

He has now reconciled with the national team coach and was invited to the must-win Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Burundi, Squawka reports.

The Indomitable Lions put up a five-star performance during the encounter, with Bryan Mbeumo, Christopher Wooh, and Vincent Aboubakar all scoring in the 3-0 win.

Cameroon sealed qualification to the AFCON tournament, which will be hosted by Ivory Coast in January.

Onana was spotted at the Yaounde Airport as he returned to Manchester, and fans flocked around him to take selfies.

The 28-year-old was spotted in the midst of fans who all held their phones, clicking away, while the goalie made his way.

He has been with the national team since 2016, registering 30 caps already as he is expected to return for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, which start in November.

Cameroon are drawn in CAF qualifying Group D alongside Libya, Angola, Cape Verde, Eswatini, and Mauritius.

Onana reunites with Rigobert Song

Sports Brief earlier reported that Onana reunited with Cameroon coach Rigobert Song after ending his nine-month national team exile.

The former Inter Milan shot-stopper decided to quit international football following a disagreement with the gaffer during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

He looks to have ironed out his differences with the former Cameroon captain as he eyes a return to the Nations Cup with the Indomitable Lions.
