The Englishman's grit as a football player was once again tested as the entire footballing world went for his neck after he scored an own goal on September 12.
The unfortunate goal, which gave Scotland some hope at Hampden Park, did not tell the whole story as Maguire looked quite solid at the back once he came on at half-time to replace Marc-Israel Guéhi.
As cited by The Telegraph, England ultimately claimed a 3-1 victory but the major talking point for fans and pundits alike was Maguire's hilarious gaffe.
The former Leicester City man’s mother, Zoe, has now involved herself in the debate surrounding her son with a passionate statement.
Maguire’s mom speaks out on criticism
Maguire's mother opened up on her experience as the mom of one of the most criticised players in world football, saying she wouldn’t wish her son's woes on anyone.
"As a mum seeing the level of negative and abusive comments which my son is receiving from some fans, pundits, and the media is disgraceful and totally unacceptable to any walk of life - never mind someone who works his socks off for club and country," she posted online, as reported by The Guardian.
Zoe talked about being in the stands for the game, describing the current narrative 'over nothing' as unacceptable.
"I understand that in the football world, there are ups and downs, positives and negatives but what Harry receives has gone far beyond football. Harry has a massive heart and it's a good job he's mentally strong and can handle it as others may not be able to. I wish this sort of abuse on nobody!"
