South Africa's national team coach Hugo Broos has revealed the Bafana Bafana player that brings something different to his team.

The Belgian manager is currently having a good run with the Bafana Bafana and was up against Namibia and DR Congo during the international break.

They drew the first friendly against Namibia and won 1-0 against DR Congo courtesy of Lyle Foster's goal.

In an interview with journalists as per iDiskiTimes, the former Cameroon manager claimed that Racing Strasbourg striker Lebo Mothiba brings something different to the Bafana Bafana.

“Mothiba is the profile of a player we don’t have. I’m very happy with what I saw, certainly here the half an hour, 20 minutes he played,” he said.
“We don’t have a player like this. There will be games where we need someone like him, strong keeping the ball, dangerous with the head, and big.

The Belgian added that the friendly games was also an avenue to test players, and Mothiba showed why he was named in the squad.

“So, okay this was also a game to look at players that we didn’t know so well. Put him on the team and see what he gives. I think Mothiba was a positive thing,” he added.

Mothiba has been out of the South African national team set-up since 2019, due to two separate knee injuries.

His recent performance for Racing Strasbourg under new manager Patrick Vieira earned him a place back in the national team.

He was used as a substitute in both friendly games against Namibia and DR Congo.

Broos says Chiefs need to improve

The Bafana Bafana squad has been announced, and once again, no Kaizer Chiefs players have made the cut.

Coach Hugo Broos unveiled his 23-man squad, which will contest two friendlies in September, Sports Brief previously reported.

Speaking about the decision to omit anyone from The Glamour Boys, Broos said that the club needed to improve their performances.
