The Ballon d’Or is highly regarded as football’s most prized individual accolade and only the best players within a particular calendar year get to clinch the award.

Talks of the award continue to dominate the headlines as fans count down to the prestigious ceremony, which is set for October 16 at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, France.

While Argentine superstar, Lionel Messi is tipped as the heavy favourite to clinch the award for a record-extending eighth time, it’s a video of his long-time rival, Cristiano Ronaldo, from the 2014 edition that has got many fans talking again.

Despite Ronaldo not making the 30-man final shortlist of the award, the award organisers have taken to social media to acknowledge the greatness of the Portuguese star.

The video, which was posted by Ballon d’Or on TikTok, saw the 38-year-old shout the iconic 'Siuuu!' after being announced as the winner of the prize by former Arsenal captain, Thierry Henry, in 2014.

However, fans appear to have created another angle to the video and have trolled Ronaldo for his reaction.
