FootballJadon Sancho’s Past Disciplinary Issues with Dortmund and England Resurface Amid Ten Hag Feud
- Jadon Sancho’s future is up in the air after a public dispute with his manager, Erik ten Hag
- The winger was a notable absentee from Manchester United’s game against Arsenal before the international break
- A look into Sancho’s recent history will reveal he has had previous cases of indiscipline at his former club Borussia Dortmund
Jadon Sancho’s problems date back to his days at Borussia Dortmund, Sports Brief has learnt.
The 23-year-old was called out by his manager, Erik ten Hag, who questioned his commitment and discipline when asked why he was not in the squad for the game against Arsenal.
Ten Hag left out Sancho because he believes that the England international had a lacklustre attitude in training, something Sancho openly denied on social media.
On X, formerly Twitter, Sancho has pinned his response to ten Hag, as he released a statement saying he was being treated unfairly.
Ten Hag and Sancho held showdown talks on Monday, but according to The Mirror, talks did not go positively and the two parties have yet to resolve the issue.
The delicate situation has left the door open for a possible Sancho exit from Manchester United in the January transfer window.
Sancho’s past transgressions at Borussia Dortmund
Interestingly, while Sancho cried foul about ten Hag’s remarks about him, a trip down memory lane will reveal that the winger has had similar issues at his previous club Borussia Dortmund, as well as with the England national team.
According to The Telegraph, Sancho’s time-keeping issues proved to be an issue for England’s backroom staff, ultimately costing him a place in Gareth Southgate’s squad at the Qatar World Cup.
In 2019, Sky Sports reported how Sancho was slapped with a hefty fine and dropped by Borussia Dortmund ahead of a clash with Borussia Monchengladbach.

FootballLucien Favre, who was Dortmund’s boss at the time, was reportedly angry with Sancho for returning late from international duty.
"The expectations of Jadon are enormous, but that is dangerous," said Favre at the time.
"Jadon is a great player, no discussions, but he still has a lot to learn."
Two seasons prior to that incident, Sancho was dropped from the Under-23 squad for arriving late to training.
Pellistri highlights go viral
Sports Brief also reported on a viral video of Facundo Pellistri amid Erik ten Hag’s right-wing crisis.
Ten Hag blocked a loan move that would have seen the Uruguay international leave the club this summer, an indication that he is part of the gaffer’s plans.
Unlike Antony, Pellistri’s play is more direct as he is more willing to take on defenders directly, as per a video shared on X, formerly Twitter.
